These robot felt finger puppets were so fun and easy to make. I love working with felt because it’s simple to use – even if you don’t really know what you’re doing, you can make something that turns out looking pretty awesome!

Materials:
–Felt in various colors. If you want to make your robots shiny, you can use glitter felt sheets.
–Embroidery thread
–Fabric Glue – optional, if you’d rather glue the parts of the robot on
-Pattern template – You can print it off here.
You can use the template as a base for the robots and customize them as you want. I didn’t include the buttons and doodads – just cut as many of those out from scraps of felt that you want to fit your robots.
Cut out the pieces for as many robots as you want to make.
Glue or stitch the eyes, buttons, and accessories onto the robots. This is where it’s fun to customize your own robots.
Then start stitching your puppets together.
As I was sewing the robot puppets together, my four year old asked if he could sew too. At first, I was hesitant – there was the part of me that wanted this project to look well done for the blog. But part of what this is all about is not just doing things for my kids, but doing things with my kiddos.
So I handed over the needle and thread to him, showed him a couple stitches, and let him go at it. I was really surprised at how well he did. And seeing how proud he was of his work was priceless.
This robot turned out being my favorite.
Make sure you let your kids participate in these projects. Let them loose and see what they come up with.
