Fall Fun
If You Give a Moose a Muffin – this is one of our favorite fall reads for our little kids (and even the bigger kids gather around when we read it). I have a super easy sock puppet moose tutorial here, including a free printable PDF pattern. Add in some fresh baked muffins (see our gluten-free muffin recipe below), and you’ll have a wonderful, cozy fall activity.
I have an excellent gluten-free muffin recipe that my 8 year old loves to make! It’s super simple and easy to make.
Gluten Free Muffins
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup apple sauce
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 1/2 cups gluten-free flour – We use and love Namaste flour gluten free flour. If you use a different gluten free flour blend, you may need to adjust the amount you add.
Instructions
- Mix wet ingredients.
- Add dry ingredients and mix.
- Scoop into muffin liners (we’ve used these re-usable silicone muffin liners for years, and they are still going strong) on a large cookie sheet.
- Cook at 350 for 20 minutes. (This may vary depending on your oven!)

NaNoWriMo Young Writers Program – NaNoWriMo has a free curriculum available for several age levels! We loved that the elementary level curriculum has kids draw a picture of their inner editor and “hide” them away while they are writing.
