Printable Laptop Craft with Keyboard Layout

A simple, low-prep craft – this printable laptop is perfect for pretend play! Your kids will love putting together this laptop papercraft and playing with it after.

Pretend play crafts are some of my favorites! It’s such a great way to get kids both creating with their hands and then engaging with what they’ve made.

And this one has a real keyboard layout, so kids can practice learning their keys (without screen-time).

The screen space of the laptop is blank so they can make their own design on it.

This craft is just black & white, so you can print the same craft again and again (without burning through your ink) – or make copies for a classroom or co-op!

Materials List

Laptop craft PDF
Paper – regular paper works fine, or use cardstock for more durability
Scissors
Glue – gluesticks work best, but you can use regular, liquid glue
Crayons, markers, or colored pencils – This is technically optional, but most kids will want to color their craft!

How to make the printable laptop craft

Print out the craft. You can use regular printer paper – when the two parts of the craft get glued together, it provides enough support to let the laptop remain upright and open. If you want it to be a little more durable, you can also use cardstock.

Have your kids or students color the laptop. They can even design what they want on the screen! Just make sure they use a light color for the keys – part of what makes this craft so great is that it’s laid out just like a real keyboard. You want that visible for the kids so they can practice learning the keys and their placements.

Cut out around each side of the laptop.

Apply glue to one of the backsides of the laptop. A gluestick works really well for this. You can use regular liquid glue, but be careful about overdoing it – you want the laptop to be smooth when you put the two sides together, and too much white glue will make bumps.

Carefully line up the two sides of the laptop, with the blank sides facing each other, and press them together.

Important note: Make sure that the back side of the computer is right side up! The logo should be opposite the screen, and the section with the access panel, vent, and screws should be on the opposite side of the keyboard. You can see the video for a quick look at how it should be.

Smooth out any wrinkles or rough spots – this will not only make the laptop look better, but will also help it fold and hold its shape.

Carefully fold up on the dotted line, just like a real laptop would close. Kids may need help with this part – make sure they fold right on the line so the papercraft works right.
